Dear students, dear employees,
the media masterclass is now available to all employees and students of the University of Passau. The learning offering provides competencies in the field of media production. The courses “Fundamentals of Digital Photography” and “Fundamentals of Video Editing” have already been released.
In the future, additional courses on various topics of media production and studio technology will follow at the Center for Media and Communication (ZMK). This includes, among others, lighting design, video production, audio production, image editing, and much more. In addition to providing fundamental knowledge, advanced courses offer the opportunity to delve deeper into other interesting topics. The following video provides a first impression:
The blended learning arrangement offers you the opportunity to learn flexibly and independently. You can access the learning content anytime and anywhere, allowing you to determine your own learning pace. In doing so, you benefit from the combination of digital content and face-to-face workshops at the ZMK, which enables interaction with instructors and other participants. Therefore, in the near future, the media masterclass will be among the most comprehensive blended learning offerings at the University of Passau.
Modernization of the Media Center
The ZMK began its operations in 2013, even before its official inauguration. Ten years later, the University of Passau is investing approximately 2.5 million euros in the modernization and expansion of the Media Center. In the future, productions can be implemented in 4K using the latest production technology. VR technology is possible in studio operations, as well as the IP-based networking of audio and video sources. In the future, live broadcasting, similar to what is currently done in radio operations, will also be possible with television stations. In the newly designed E-Learning Lab, instructors will continue to explore innovative teaching formats. The measures are expected to be completed by the winter semester of 2023/24. The ZMK thus provides the ideal conditions to combine research, teaching, and practical work under one roof.
